OVERVIEW
Our Dream & Discover tour is special as it starts to give the essence of South Africa. We use small fine boutique hotels, guest houses and bush lodges with open spaces in a charming, comfortable and tranquil environment. This lovely adventure lets you relax whilst ‘going local’ with dining in city Bistro’s, enjoying wine and canapé pairings on an estate dating back over 300 years and enjoying secret tours that are off peak to avoid the crowds, whilst still providing the opportunity to experience and visit some of our amazing tourist sights. On some of our tours we include ‘home-grown dining’ which offers the chance to have dinner in one of our Host’s homes, the evening meal can range from traditional Malay, to a Durban curry to the legendary South African Braai…. All are hugely popular!!
Who will enjoy this tour ~ If you enjoy smaller boutique accommodation in beautiful locations where you can enjoy some down-time, whilst still experiencing the best these destinations have to offer with a very local flair and great food, this is for you. This tour works well for families with a few tweaks, however is most popular with couples.
Day 1 – 3: Cape Town, Small Fine Boutique Hotel
Spend three nights in this lovely boutique hotel with views over the Atlantic Ocean or towards Table Mountain and only a short hop from the famous V&A Waterfront. Your room will be ready the moment you step through the door, especially for those early morning flight arrivals.
For your first night, if Jet Lag doesn’t hit you, we have a drive through downtown Cape Town planned ending with dinner at a popular city Bistro (D).
The following day, your private tour includes a short walk through the historic Bo Kaap with its colourful houses and amazing views of our famous Mountain…. We then drive along the Atlantic coast line and pass through the trendy suburbs of Clifton and Camps Bay to Chapmans Peak. A stop for the best calamari and prawns pan in the Cape is a must before heading off to Cape Point. If time allows, we can squeeze in a visit to Boulders Beach to visit the African Penguin colony and afternoon tea & scones at Kirstenbosch Gardens (B + L)
On day two, we go for an early morning Table Mountain excursion by cable car or you have the option to hike up Lions Head or go paragliding off Signal Hill… there are choices followed by coffee & pastries at a local coffee bar. Your afternoon is at leisure to soak up the sun rays on the beach, or stroll through the V&A Waterfront and visit the Silo District. For dinner, if you have something in mind that you would like to try, let us know and we can make some suggestions and of course the reservation (B).
Day 4 – 6: Franschhoek, Luxury Guest House
Days are spent Iazing away in the Cape winelands of Franschhoek, with centuries-old vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture. The Huguenot Memorial Museum and neighbouring monument honour the area’s French settlers, who arrived in the 17th and 18th centuries.
With Franschhoek being a foodie destination, one whiles away the day, wine tasting and exploring different estates before heading off to enjoy gourmet picnics under the oak trees with views overlooking sprawling vineyards.
Your first night is spent in a luxury guest house with dinner at one of the village restaurants (D).
The next morning, is a tour through the winelands visiting some historic wine estates where you can enjoy wine and canapé pairings. En route back to the Guest House, we stop off at the Chocolate kitchen for a delicious home-made gelato to cool down the hot summer days and in winter, a warm comforting hot chocolate, (B + Pairings).
Your last day in the winelands, lets you spend time lounging by the pool, or strolling through the village of Franschhoek which is jammed fill with boutiques, craft shops and eateries (B).
Day 7 – 9: Sabi Sands Reserve, Small Bush Lodge
This bush lodge is wrapped in homely comforts, sleeping in thatch chalets and surrounded by the finest of game viewing opportunities, secluded in a magnificent setting amid the vast bushveld panoramas of the Sabie Sands located within the Kruger National Park. This area is bordered by the Sabie and Sand rivers, making it ideal for big cat viewing with leopard and lions (almost) a sure sighting. The small lodge offers eight chalets with hands on service and bush expertise. Dining is a treat with a full English breakfast serviced, afternoon tea and dinner in a traditional African boma.
A typical day starts with an early morning wake-up call from your ranger for coffee and ‘rusks’ before heading out on your morning Safari drive. Days are spent catching up on that novel, or cooling down in the pool, or de-stressing with a Spa treatment. Game walks are optional and evening sundowner drives with Tsonga trackers get you up close and personal with the wild. The day ends around the camp fire with a whiskey or port for a night cap.
Your three nights at the bush camp include daily safari drives and daily, a full English breakfast, light lunch or afternoon tea and dinner (Incl.).
